Learning Outcomes
On completion of the Leading with Impact program, your finance leadership team will develop leadership impact skills and gain practical experience in the non-profit sector. This program also promotes skills-based volunteering which can support individuals with their ongoing professional development and has additional benefits for your organization such as boosting productivity, improving employee retention, and creating more business opportunities.
Course Reviews
But this program wasn't just theoretical; it's a guide to unlocking change along with practical exercises. It provides insights into effective strategies, sustainable systems, and the human side of transformation – rallying teams and fostering collaboration. The case study at the end of the course was eye opening!
In essence, the Finance Transformation program can be a roadmap in the continuing evolving finance world. Having the opportunity to be part of this program, I can confirm that it empowers professionals to lead their organizations toward meaningful progress. If you're ready to shape the future of finance, this program is your invaluable collaborator.
We covered a wide range of topics from managing stakeholders to creating a project plan and even analysing available software solutions (who knew there were so many!). Oliver Deacon is an engaging facilitator who managed to keep the energy and interest high throughout despite it being virtual. He delivered a combination of theory based models with practical examples and the chance to deep-drive into the week's specific topic via smaller break out rooms. I'm extremely impressed with the breath of subject matter covered and how relevant and applicable it was made to feel within an NHS context even though it wasn't aimed at a public sector audience.
As a CIMA finalist, this Transformation Boot Camp brought my Strategic level studies to life; especially in our final session where we worked through a Case Study and tied all the different elements together. I walked away feeling inspired and excited about the opportunities we have for progress in this area! Finally, the care taken with the workbooks and presentation materials is testament to the passion and pride taken by Oli and the GrowCFO team and I very much look forward to working with them again in the future.

Course Content
WORKSHOP 1
THE STRATEGIC MINDSET
In our first session we discuss what makes a successful strategy, how strategic objectives translate into financial plans, and the finance leader’s role in value creation. We consider what value creation means to non-profits, and the importance of vision, mission and goals. We learn about the macro challenges faced by the non-profit world.
WORKSHOP 2
UNDERSTANDING YOUR STAKEHOLDERS
Building on the initial understanding of our stakeholders’ macro challenges, we discuss what it means to be truly empathetic and socially responsible, whether it is in a corporate, non-profit or personal situation. We practice empathy by reflecting further on the likely challenges faced by your non-profit partner organizations. We also provide you with the knowledge and resources to interpret non-profit financial reporting.
WORKSHOP 3
WHAT IS IMPACT?
We discuss what impact means on both a personal and social level. How can we optimize our own impact to better serve our stakeholders? And how can we help our non-profit partner organizations to achieve the social impact they aspire to?
We introduce the Charterpath Financial Health Check as a framework to help you accelerate establishing a position of trusted advisor and empower your non-profit partner organization to sustainably deliver their mission through impartial and actionable insights into their financial health.
WORKSHOP 4
CRITICAL EVALUATION
After working through the Charterpath Financial Health Check supported by optional drop-in sessions with our mentors, we regroup to consolidate learnings. We identify key observations and plan the discussion themes and approach for the upcoming (virtual) meetings with your non-profit leaders.
WORKSHOP 5
MAKING AN IMPACT
Following your (virtual) meetings with non-profit leaders and preparation of your draft board presentation, we regroup as an opportunity to rehearse and gather feedback from peers. We benefit from the combined insight of the group to ensure that your observations are clear, your recommendations are sensitively delivered and that you have anticipated likely questions. We explore how non-profits can optimize reporting their impact to different stakeholders.
WORKSHOP 6
BEING BETTER FINANCE LEADERS
In our final workshop, we share our experiences and identify key learnings on personal impact relevant for your role as corporate finance leaders. We reflect on how we can apply the non-executive mindset in your own organization.
We showcase the pathways available to finance professionals to increase their social impact, for example through tangible corporate ESG actions in your organization, or future trustee or other volunteer work in the non-profit sector.
