Bukky Marcinkowski Lands Her First CFO Role at Schindler UK & Ireland Limited

“GrowCFO’s nine Future CFO Programme modules helped prepare me for my first CFO role and in gaining clear perspective and direction in the crucial early months of the role.”

Bukky Marcinkowski secured her first CFO role whilst participating in GrowCFO’s Future CFO Programme and being an active member of the GrowCFO community. Schindler Group is a leading global provider of elevators, escalators and related services.

Founded in Switzerland in 1874, the Schindler Group is a leading global provider of elevators, escalators and related services. Schindler’s mobility solutions move more than 1.5 billion people every day all over the world. Behind the company’s success are over 69,000 employees in more than 100 countries. As well as other priorities, Schindler is committed to reaching net-zero emissions by 2040 through a 90% absolute reduction of its greenhouse gas emissions in scope 1, 2 and 3 from a 2020 baseline as its long-term science-based emission reduction target, while working to neutralize its residual emissions.

Securing the role

Unsurprisingly, there were many applicants for such an exciting CFO role. Bukky secured the Schindler Limited UK & Ireland CFO role due to her broad experience across multiple areas of finance and her exposure to complementary functions, but also due to the diversity of industries she had worked across. It was clear she could hit the ground running.

This CFO role required somebody with the skills and experience of being a member of a senior leadership team, who at the same time does not shy away from being hands-on and demonstrates the desire for continuous improvement and team development.

Why Bukky joined GrowCFO

Bukky is an advocate of proactive learning, and joined GrowCFO to participate in the Future CFO Programme even before actively pursuing a CFO role. She felt that the nine module training courses and mentor-led live workshops would prepare her well for stepping up into the CFO role for the first time. The modules covered a range of relevant topics including creating a development plan, growing your personal brand, engaging with the top table, building a blueprint for your own team and preparing for your first 100 days in a new role.
